running debian ror template

<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1>
ServerName <insertsubdomainhere.insertdomainhere.com>
DocumentRoot /var/www/<subdomain name>
</VirtualHost>

is that about right?

You must replace 127.0.0.1 with your server's IP, as given by VPSVille (the one you SSH to)

Other tip:
You must be sure that a DNS entry exists for your subdomain. If you used VPSVille DNS service, there should be no problem. But if you use another provider's DNS service, please be sure that you can ping your subdomain (using Windows/Linux ping command). If you get a "host not found" error, you must check your DNS zone records
