Newb here, so be gentle.
I just setup a Megacity 2 Semi-Dedicated VPS running
Ubuntu 9.04 LAMP.
I am now trying to connect to the server to configure it. I have tried putty, NXclient and the built in SSH terminal offered on the main VPS control panel. No success. I cannot get connected.
What is the best way to connect to the server?
How do I install the 'Gnome Remote Desktop' template on your VP?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Instructions for the pre-installed gnome desktop template are here:
http://forum.vpsville.ca/index.php?t=msg&th=119
That template is based on Debian (the mother of Ubuntu).
By default, Ubuntu server templates do not come with any graphical desktop. For that you'd need to install it yourself along with the nxserver software.
I recommend you just use the Debian template and save yourself the hassle, there isn't much difference between Debian and Ubuntu on the server side.

Is there a Debian LAMP image with NX built in?

Does this mean the "Gnome Remote Desktop" template comes with Xwindow, the gnome desktop environment and NX installed?
At home I'm just using Ubuntu's Remote Desktop on with VNC clients on the laptops. Apart from using a different service/clients is there anything different with NX?

Yes the Gnome template comes with X and Gnome installed, along with NX server. NX is similar to VNC, but its much faster.
