Are there significant differences between the 32 and 64 bit templates' memory use and (CPU) performance?

Specifically, I am wondering about the Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 templates.

Is there a significant increase in memory use from the 8.10 to these 10.04 versions?

I'm running 8.10 Metropolis now with LAMP, postfix, mailing lists, maradns and spam filtering. It's tight but workable.

64bit versions may use more memory, but nearly the same CPU performance. 32bit code may run faster for basic IO, but larger calculations may be faster in 64bit.

In general the difference is too small to notice.
