Has anyone had trouble running Apache on CENTOS 6?
I am using the Town server but also did not work when I upgraded to City.

Apache version is
Version : 2.2.15 Vendor: CentOS
Release : 15.el6.centos.1

APR version is
Name : apr Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 1.3.9 Vendor: CentOS
Release : 3.el6_1.2

Kernel
Linux <snip> 2.6.26-2-openvz-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Jan 25 06:04:33 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

When I try to start apache I get the following error;

Starting httpd: [Fri Mar 02 20:00:56 2012] [crit] (22)Invalid argument: alloc_listener: failed to get a socket for (null)
Syntax error on line 136 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Listen setup failed

Everything works fine on Centos 5 but I can't seem to make the jump.

Found some people with the same problem on fedora and there resolution was to downgrade APR. But I cannot do that on Centos 6 and it seems odd that I would have to on a stock install.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

Al

Update, I just did a stock install of Centos 6 on a town server and I still get the same error when trying to launch Apache.

I thought maybe some updates and addons may have been a problem, but I am talking about a fresh build, minor configuration of httpd.conf just to make sure it has the base needed but still get the socket error.

So we got a problem here with this image I think.

I will open a support ticket

Hi,

There is a bug with the apr libraries in Centos6, you will need to be migrated to a compatible kernel until an Apr fix is available.
