I've spent the last 4 hours trying to get this working.

I've got a standard .htaccess file referencing a .htpasswd created by ubtuntu (and the reference in .htaccess is the same as the pwd for the .htpasswd).

My 000-default in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled has "Allowoverride All" set for the root directory in <Directory> tag...

Anyone else have trouble with this? I'm on a Town plan with Ubuntu LAMP 8.10 with extras added in.
