I would love to see a how to instructions on how anyone has used rsync to backup their VPS. Which system to type which commands into. Also how to set up an automated backup.

It would also be great to see if anyone has used a third party storage service and how they would rate that service.

Thanks,
Styan

Just in case anyone is wondering. I found a great GUI tool that I am using to do this now. It is called Grsync. (Installed on my local Ubuntu Install)

The source is root@[hostname.yourdomain.com]:/home/
The destination is a folder on my local filesystem.

The GUI allows you to select the options you want, you can also run a simulation right from the interface.

As soon as you hit either Simulate or Execute, a dialog pops up asking for your root ssh password. (This works well for me as I will be running these backups manually.) Then so long as you select to show progress a dialog with all the details of your transfers shows progress.

Awesome!

Hope this helps someone else.
